Why did Jesus say: to sell all & give to the poor [more than once].
Peter said: silver & gold have I none...

I hear some preach that unless you are blessed you cannot bless others but then it occured to me, yes you can if you are able to bless SUPERNATURALLY. Like Jesus did with the bread & fish & even when He sent out the deciples without script or cloak, etc but then when he was going to be crucified, then He told them they would need provision bag, coat & sword. Why is that? If He can protect & provide when He was here why not now that He is IN US?

So, I have this big desicion to make...
To give away my inheritance to my Nephew & just trust God that He will provide for us or to not give it away or maybe part of it.

Jesus had no home but I think the deciples had homes and Paul had to work to earn money for himself so it was not all supernatural.

But the early church gave all away into a community "pot".

I don't know. Have any of you figured any of this out? Big Grin

God loves you because of who He is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.
God is GOOD.

have you read Dr. S@pp's series of books including--Radical Trust in God For Finances? He has some good points and addresses some of these questions. Love, K@ta
Hello! THE TITLE OF THIS PIECE IS JESUS came to sup with us AND BROUGHT MY CAT A BAG OF FOOD. I am an artist (a painter) and my husband is a great husband and business man. We have get to share Dr. Roger S@pp's HEALING message at a small group very Weds. eve. We are all seeing The Lord do fantastic healings in the midst of us. My art work is fairly diverse but I believe THE LORD has given me two specific bodies of work to create.
NUMBER ONE: I paint the Rock and Roll Icons of the 60's and 70's in humorous situations that poke playful fun at their idol status. I will not give my web site in this forum, because some people will not understand my message or method. For you art savvy people I will say there are hints of Goya and other artists: social COMMENTATORS. I highly recommend the film GOYA'S GHOST. His work condemned the heinous works within the Catholic church during his time. If you want to see my work, (AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION!) google my name. k@ta bi11ups. Quite a few of famous actors and musicians and film makers collect this body of work. My favorite is Susan Sarandon because she stated in a magazine article that her greatest hero was Jesus Christ. GO Susan!

NUMBER TWO: My Masters Thesis work is entitled The Case for an Emotional Jesus in Painting. Most artists for over 2,000 years have concentrated on the Divinity of Christ but not his humanity. This body of work is ALSO considered highly controversial by SOME. The work emphasizes His emotions as He reacts to and interacts with contemporary American culture. This is not Biblical Illustration, but a new way of painting Christ for our time. If you have a "beef" with how I paint Christ, or any other subject matter please contact me directly and I may be able to shed some light on my mission and the historical precedent for work like mine.
Thanks!

As Andrew Wommack pointed out, the comment that 'silver and gold' have I none, may have simply meant they didn't have their wallet with them ! They would have had to have money to live and to travel. Jesus had supporters who provided for him, although he could have used his ministry to make himself rich he didn't.

You need money too. However its the attitude to it that's important. We are stewards of what God gives us. If you give all the money to someone else is it the Holy Spirit telling you to do this, or are you doing it out of fear ? I suspect if the giving is motivated by a worry about having wealth, rather than motivated by the Spirit to give to a specific person or cause, it might not be God, but you'll have to judge this yourself.

I don't think stewardship is necessarily about being poor, or about being rich. There are clear principles about not having more than we need (if you have two coats give one away etc.), about lending and not expecting back, but being poor and lacking doesn't benefit anyone if we aren't in ministry. It puts us into a place where we need help from others. Jesus couldn't work as a carpenter when he began his 3 1/2 years of ministry. He needed support from others during this time, but before that he provided for himself (and probably his family) working at the family business. Supernatural provision was also available, but so was natural hard work part of what was required for him to obtain money. It would be nice if all we had to do was give a large sum of money away to a televangelist to obtain 100x what we gave, unfortunately this is not so. The scripture about receiving back 100 fold is in the context of giving to your enemies, not to those in ministry - particularly those who want to blow it all on a private jet. Big Grin

Roger states in his excellent books on finance, that you should not give up large sums of money on a whim, but it has to be the Holy Spirit that motivates. You can be a good steward of any money you receive and do good with it - which can also be spending some of it on yourself !

Hope this helps,
Best wishes
Andy

Thankyou Andy,
I found that most helpful!
So, it's ok to be practical too & not just give everything away & hope for the best, which is kind of where I was thinking?
I didn't want to look to the inheritance instead of God but my husband wants to retire soon & so we would need it but my Nephew wants it & I wanted to show him I care about him so maybe I can share some of it or something. I wait to see how God works it out. My Nephew's Father is a millionare so I would think he will get something from him & also I have my son to consider. I would like to be able to leave something for him.

Anyhow, I have listened to Roger's CD's about stewardship & Wommack's teachings but I guess I'm still working it out. Big Grin

Skydove,
I'm not getting this.
You need this money.
Your husband needs this money to retire.
Your nephew's father is a millionaire.
you are receiveing an inheritance and he wants the little money you are getting?
Now you feel obligated to give it all to him, because he asked for it, not even that he needs it or is suffering or something?

I'm not getting. I can understand that you are kind and wish to help and I pray that god gives you wisdom in handling this windfall.

well...I guess I was thinking if it made him see the love of God & he got saved that is worth more than anything!
But maybe I need to be more practical?
I've never been good with money...my brain just doesn't seem to think that way.
thanks for setting me straight mysticriver. Big Grin

Hi, My aunt just died and the care home she lived in got her to write a will (after my mum died who all her estate was to go to) while she was in their care for severe mental health and dimentia they got her to give all her money to the care home - a government home. What a shock and difficult for us - good thing is that my sister saw the solicitor today and at least we get the personal things she had. I think inheritence money causes such a stir and can take away from the main issue of loss (it did for us, feeling that she and us were taken advantage of) I agree with Andy and Misticriver. I worked with the homeless for 12 1/2 yrs and always went along the lines of what it meant to give everything to the poor etc. so know where you are coming from. On the other hand if the money was given to you maybe you could relax and recieve it as such. maybe think of it like a bunch of flowers - would you go and hand them straight out. Sometimes it is our time to be blessed. Sometimes God does want us to share with others but don't be afraid to recieve either especialy if it was the wishes of your relative who could have decided differently.

Father we ask you for your wisdom and grace and we ask for skydoves nephew to come to full knowledge of you - independant of gifts or finance. I pray God's blessing on you.

Thankyou!!!!! for the very sweet msg & I'm so sorry for what you had to go thru'. I'm sure the Lord will make it up to you "He will repay". Big Grin

PS. I have another big decision I'm struggling with. I haven't come across a scripture to help me with it yet. With the economy going down [altho', thank God, we are still paying our bills!] and my health the way it's been, it's been very difficult to take care of my horse [that was born here 15yrs ago]. She's not really useful for anything except manure for our garden, ha ha! So, rather than buying another years worth of hay, mineral supplements, wormers, etc.! I'm wondering if I should put her down. She has bad feet. I have to keep her in boots. I've been praying for her & she has gotten better & God has put people in my path to help me. My husband & I seem to have an emotional attachment, but here again, maybe I should be more practical? Any ideas, suggestions. OH, I can't sell her or give her away bc she is not rideable & like I said, has to have boots on in order to move around pain free. So, she would end up at the horse killers & I won't do that! Also, there aren't any retirement homes around here except if you pay & then that doesn't really solve the problem.
thank you ahead of time. Big Grin

I don't know about your horse or any advise in that area but

but your nephew wants your money, his dad is rich, how old is your nephew , tell him to get a job. if you don't like having money,
give some to the food banks and homeless shelter or help some seniors out with their medication bills. Please be sure to keep enough
for yourselves so you are able to support yourselves. I'm sorry I may sound rash, but there is nothing wrong with money unless you hoarde it and want more and more and spend it on foolish possessions like needing 20 pairs of shoes cuz you like shoes.

I had to put my cat down 4 years ago she had cancer and was suffering, it was very difficult, animals become part of the family and its hard to part with them.
