Hi It's Andrea,

I am putting on a few posts from the conference we were at because there were so many amazing encounters with God.

While out on the streets to do a Treasure Hunt - looking for folk to pray and witness to. James saw a lady at the bus stop who looked sad and felt that 2 women we were with should chat with her.

Bus stop lady said she could not speak English so they asked her what language she did speak. She said Russian. Think One of the women is American and a pastors wife who came for the conference from France where she and her husband are now living. Have you guessed it? - She spoke Russian Love

The bus stop girls father had just died weeks before and they were able to offer her comfort, prayer and then she became a christian at the bus stop. Big Grin Flip

How good is God and how able and willing to sort that out - we just need to get out there.

Amen, Andrea & James

Great stuff!!

I never did a treasure hunt but always wanted to give it a try. Please explain what you did from start to finish, I'm curious.

Thanks
Troy

Troy: This is from James-Andrea's post about their seminar with Kevin Dedmon_

"Kevin Dedmon does a thing he calls a treasure hunt - a simple tool of asking God to give you places, names, healing needs, distinguishing features. You write down 5 of each and them team up with folk and go out to the streets trying to find people who match one or a few of the stuff on the list. It just helps outreach to be fun, be led by God and gives a great ice breaker as you tell the person you are on the treasure hunt and show them the clues, get chatting, explain that they are God's treasure, offer prayer etc."

I'm reading Dedmon's Treasure Hunt book now - fascinating stuff happens!

Hi Troy,

Lilygloves has answered the question. There is a very simple map you can download from this site - http://www.ieastgate.ca/...p;id=108&Itemid=120 It took me ages to find but does not contain too much info.

It is a way of making outreach fun and taking some of the pressure of the person you approach. It is best done in groups.

1. make lists of 5 things for each catagory

LOCATION
PERSONS NAME
THE PERSONS APPEARANCE
WHAT THEY MAY NEED PRAYER FOR
THE UNUSUAL

Kevin encourages after prayer and coming into God's presence , just to write it very fast (otherwise you would take all day worrying about your choices) so that it is led by God - no matter how odd it seems.

2. Then after that you pair up with maybe 3 - 4 other folk. At that point you compair the things you have written. Sometimes some things match other times all different.

3. Decide on a place on the lists to start - for example if 2 people had "park" then you could all walk to the nearest park.

4. Look out for other clues (things that match the people you see) like long blonde hair, green sunglasses, in a wheel chair, (someone in our teams had umbarella on a scorching hot day - it turned out someone was using it for shade)

5. If you have one or more clues you may decide to approach the person. Explain you are on a treasure hunt. Show the pieces of paper with the clues you think they match. The person hopefully will be interested in helping / chatting. You then build simple rapor - "it's a lovely hot day", "are you on holiday or just out for the day etc. Then you expalin that you think God sees them as treasure and would they have any prayer needs etc, or during rapor chat you could say " your leg looks sore as your walking with a stick - would you like prayer etc.

Some folk just shy away and you just wish them well and move on praying God's blessing after you leave and others engage really well.

The main thing is that it's just a tool so no particular formular. I think it does make it fun and helps to engage folk rather than going straight into asking them about faith or offering prayer. Kevin Dedmons minisrty is all about spending time with God and leaking Him out - just blessing people, praying for people with authority - like Rodger S@pp's teaching and getting into the community.

God Bless,

Andrea
