I used to read sections from it some years ago.

According to Wikipedia, these are some of the ways it differs from Christianity:

-Jesus' crucifixion is not considered an atonement for the sins of humanity. The crucifixion is taught to be an outcome of the fears of religious leaders of the day, who regarded his teachings as a threat to their positions of authority.

-God is never wrathful or angry. He is a personality entirely motivated by Father-like love.

-Jesus is the human incarnation of "Michael of Nebadon," one of more than 700,000 "Paradise Sons" of God, or "Creator Sons." Jesus is not considered the second person of the Trinity as he is in Christianity. The book refers to the Eternal Son as the second person of the Trinity.

-Jesus was born on earth through natural means of conception instead of a virgin birth.

-Jesus did not walk on water or perform some of the miracles that are attributed to him in the Bible.

-Jesus commissioned twelve women (and later more) as religious teachers, who traveled about with him and his apostles on their preaching missions.

-Jesus rose from the dead in a "more glorified form", reflective of a transitional state between material and spiritual existence known as "morontia". As with all mortals, his physical body was subject to decomposition, but celestial beings removed his body from the tomb for the dissolution of his remains through a process of "accelerated time".

-The book states that Jesus may return to the world many times. This contrasts with traditional Christian eschatology, in which Jesus returns only once.

I recently learned that this belief system is a New Age cult. I believe I was attracted to it before because I didn't want to accept that Someone had to suffer and die for me to be accepted by God. Yet, how can I know what's accurate, even including the Bible?

Hi! I will try to answer 2 parts. which I think I can do fairly well...please forgive some rambling...I am building up. 1. The crucifixion as non optional--- and 2. the virgin birth.

I thought the whole dying on the cross was bloody and gross once. (and it is) but now I see it in a GREAT way, not a scarey or ignoble way.

the necessity of Christ's death as I now understand it-
Adam and Eve fell in to the waiting hands of the enemy.

God trumped this by sending HIS plan (the law which required blood sacrifice) because God knew that ultimately only Christ's blood can purify right down to a man or woman very conscience. not the blood of bulls or goats.

the law entered (a covert operations word) right alongside the Adamic sin.

In Christ's blood sacrifice of Himself He potentially purchased to Himself and His Father, God---all mankind ---even a new race of people. The "second Adam"

as part of this new race, we will receive eternal life and much more, even be joint heirs with Christ.

The lives we now live in Christ (even though we may sin) can no longer lead to eternal DEATH as the first Adam's sin would have without Christ.

2. the virgin birth was a necessary requirement. One reason? for Christ to have the eternal seed and DNA of God- and so enter the stage as the second Adam.[/b]

Hello! THE TITLE OF THIS PIECE IS JESUS came to sup with us AND BROUGHT MY CAT A BAG OF FOOD. I am an artist (a painter) and my husband is a great husband and business man. We have get to share Dr. Roger S@pp's HEALING message at a small group very Weds. eve. We are all seeing The Lord do fantastic healings in the midst of us. My art work is fairly diverse but I believe THE LORD has given me two specific bodies of work to create.
NUMBER ONE: I paint the Rock and Roll Icons of the 60's and 70's in humorous situations that poke playful fun at their idol status. I will not give my web site in this forum, because some people will not understand my message or method. For you art savvy people I will say there are hints of Goya and other artists: social COMMENTATORS. I highly recommend the film GOYA'S GHOST. His work condemned the heinous works within the Catholic church during his time. If you want to see my work, (AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION!) google my name. k@ta bi11ups. Quite a few of famous actors and musicians and film makers collect this body of work. My favorite is Susan Sarandon because she stated in a magazine article that her greatest hero was Jesus Christ. GO Susan!

NUMBER TWO: My Masters Thesis work is entitled The Case for an Emotional Jesus in Painting. Most artists for over 2,000 years have concentrated on the Divinity of Christ but not his humanity. This body of work is ALSO considered highly controversial by SOME. The work emphasizes His emotions as He reacts to and interacts with contemporary American culture. This is not Biblical Illustration, but a new way of painting Christ for our time. If you have a "beef" with how I paint Christ, or any other subject matter please contact me directly and I may be able to shed some light on my mission and the historical precedent for work like mine.
Thanks!

I think that is why it is called 'faith'. For we believe in what we cannot see, yet the evidence is all around us. However, if you can grasp the fact that the Bible was not all written at exact same time, then you can see that many prophecies were fulfilled over a period of time. You see the prophecies and the confirmations time and time again.

Something else I would say you must be aware of, and read and comprehend this carefully- do not exalt the Bible above God. We have the Holy Spirit to lead us and teach us, and the Bible is one of the great tools God uses for us, but the Bible is not a relationship with God (another way to state this would be the Bible does not equate a relationship with God). The Bible records history, prophecies, and words of life- but the Bible itself is not the life that exists within us. It is the Holy Spirit that is the life and it is He who illuminates the word to our hearts. Our relationship with God exists apart from the Bible; but the Bible does help us to grasp the history and many of the doctrines of the Christian faith. So I would say it is through faith, and as the Holy Spirit illuminates to you, you can trust He knows what He is doing.
If you can believe it, He has achieved it!
